Take the family on a memorable stroll through one of Florida's historic landmarks.   Fort Barrancas, constructed between 1839-1844, was one of four forts built to protect the Pensacola Navy Yard.

Fort Pickens is the largest of four forts built to defend Pensacola Bay, Florida, and its navy yard. The fort was begun in 1829, completed in 1834, and used until the 1940s. Built in the age of wooden warships and cannons firing round balls, the fort underwent changes in response to advances in weapon technology following the Civil War.

At times, the red flags will fly due to various reasons.  During those times, you may want to visit the Bay side of Okaloosa Island.  There is a sandy beach there as well, and the water will be inviting for swimming, wading, etc.  There is parking available....just bring your towel.
